Job summary

H&R Block seeks a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to assist clients with complex tax situations, preparing accurate returns for individuals and businesses and conducting client interviews to tailor recommendations.

You will work in a local office, backed by leading training and technology, with a competitive hourly rate and an incentive plan to reward impact as you grow your tax expertise and serve clients in a local office.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation or related field
• Experience working in a client-facing, consultative role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree or CPA/EA credential preferred
• Experience with complex returns, tax planning, or audit support preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and life changes
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities
• Build trusted client relationships with empathetic, consultative service
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive office environment
