Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns for diverse clients and build lasting relationships in a local Worcester, MA office. You’ll interview clients, uncover tax savings, and provide guidance with industry-leading training and technology, plus a competitive hourly rate and incentive plan.

This in-person role emphasizes delivering empathetic, consultative service while supporting IRS notices and audit guidance as needed.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, incl. individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet continuing education and IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications and provide clear recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and HR Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
