Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate tax returns and deliver personalized tax guidance in a local office. You’ll interview clients, uncover savings opportunities, and help clients understand tax implications using industry-leading training and technology.

This in-person role offers a competitive hourly rate and an incentive plan based on impact as you grow in tax expertise and serve clients throughout the season.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment 1.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including explaining tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications, then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and HR Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
