Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. in Illinois seeks an Experienced Tax Professional for the seasonal, in-person role.

You will prepare tax returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients to understand their financial situations, and offer personalized tax-saving advice using our training and technology. You will build lasting relationships with clients, provide empathetic service, and identify opportunities to offer H&R Block products.

Qualifications

• Must complete H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS and state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations (individual and business).
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial scenarios and tax implications; provide clear recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant H&R Block products.
• Provide IRS notice support, tax notice resolution, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
