Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an Experienced Tax Professional for a seasonal, in-person role at a local tax office. You will prepare accurate returns, conduct client interviews, and provide personalized recommendations while leveraging training and technology to maximize client value.

You will build lasting relationships, identify tax-saving opportunities, and support clients through IRS notices and audits, with an emphasis on service quality and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation or related field.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet continuing education and IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and HR Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
