Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients, and offer tailored recommendations. In-person at a local H&R Block office, you’ll leverage training and technology to deliver empathetic, consultative service and identify tax-saving opportunities.

The role emphasizes building lasting client relationships, IRS guidance support, and collaboration within a positive, client-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Experience in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance (preferred)
• 5+ years of tax prep/accounting experience (preferred)
• CPA/EA or other IRS Circular 230 credentials (preferred)
• Experience with complex returns, planning, audit support, or notices (preferred)
• Experience with GoSystem or UltraTax (preferred)
• Experience with AI-powered tools (Copilot, ChatGPT) (preferred)
• Experience in consultative/advisory client relationships (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse tax situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications
• Provide clear, personalized recommendations and tax savings opportunities
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance
• Collaborate with team members and maintain a positive client-focused office environment
