Job summary

H&R Block in Missouri is seeking an Experienced Tax Professional for a seasonal, in-person role at a local tax office. You will prepare complete tax returns for individuals and small businesses, interview clients to understand their financial situations, and offer personalized tax savings guidance while delivering empathetic service.

You will collaborate with a team, meet IRS/state requirements, and participate in ongoing training to advance your tax expertise and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain tax concepts clearly to clients
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and life changes, then provide clear recommendations
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying savings opportunities
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
