Job summary

Koffex Accounting in Crest Hill, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Seasonal Tax Preparer to join the Crest Hill office for the upcoming tax season. You will meet with clients, prepare individual tax returns, and help ensure every return is accurate and filed on time.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced preparer who enjoys working directly with clients during a fast-paced, rewarding season. The role requires meeting with clients, preparing returns, and staying current on tax laws.

Qualifications

• At least 1 season of individual tax preparation experience in an office setting.
• Valid PTIN, or ability to obtain one before the season starts.
• Working knowledge of individual tax law, forms, and e-filing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy under deadline pressure.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and general office computer use.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays, during peak filing weeks.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather tax documents and understand their filing needs.
• Prepare and review individual tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify eligible deductions, credits, and filing strategies to benefit the client.
• Explain return results and answer client questions clearly.
• Stay current on federal and state tax law changes affecting individual returns.
• Maintain client confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial information.
• Support front-office operations during peak periods, including scheduling and client check-in.
