Job summary

H&R Block, a leading tax services firm, seeks a seasonal Tax Associate in Iowa to meet with clients, gather information, prepare tax returns, and explain tax matters with training provided. This in-person role offers day-one support and opportunities to increase earnings as knowledge grows.

Ideal candidates bring customer service experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, familiarity with AI tools, and availability for 15–35 hours per week (up to 40 during peak).

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
