Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate for an in-person role at a local California tax office. You’ll meet with clients, gather information, and prepare tax returns with guidance from experienced teammates, while identifying opportunities to save on taxes and provide clear explanations.

No prior tax experience is required; comprehensive training and ongoing support will help you build client relationships and grow your earnings through a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and a client-first approach.
