Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office. You’ll meet with clients, collect tax information, and prepare returns with training from experienced teammates.

Strong communication and problem-solving are essential as you identify savings opportunities and explain tax details clearly. No prior tax experience is required; hours range 15–35 per week with peak periods offering up to 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork
