Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office in California. You will meet with clients, gather information, prepare tax returns with training, and explain tax concepts clearly while identifying potential savings opportunities.

No prior tax experience is required; you will receive day-one training and ongoing support to build tax knowledge and client relationships. Availability for 15–40 hours per week during tax season is expected.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain information clearly
• Problem-solving skills and ability to organize information
• Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations
• Identify tax savings opportunities and suitable products/services
• Apply problem-solving skills to address questions with guidance
