Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons in the operating room in Naples, FL during peak season. The role ranges from assisting as a surgical first assistant to supporting as a surgical tech as needed.

The position requires CST certification or CSFA/CSA credentials, 1–3 years of acute care experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment with strong teamwork and attention to sterile technique.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician or First Assist in an acute care setting required
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required or NBSTSA CSFA or NSAA CSA certifications considered

Responsibilities

• Scrub person during surgical procedures, prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments.
• Provide exposure through instrument handling, retractors, suctioning, and sponging as directed by the surgeon.
• Handle and dissect tissues, clamp vessels, control bleeding, and place drains as instructed.
• Assist with wound closure, suturing, and dressing per surgeon instructions.
• Maintain sterility and safety standards, perform counting procedures with the RN circulator, and follow infection control protocols.
