Job summary

The Town of Parker is seeking a frontline operator to manage automotive and maintenance equipment for winter road maintenance and snow removal. Duties include operating dump trucks with plows and sanders, maintaining records, and adhering to safety and policy standards.

Position requires a valid Colorado CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements preferred; high school diploma or GED a must; 2+ years driving history.

Under general supervision, this position functions as a front-line provider of services operating automotive and maintenance equipment to perform winter road maintenance and snow/ice removal duties.

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.

Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.

A valid Class B Commercial Driver License issued by the State of Colorado, with air brakes and tanker endorsements is preferred.

Snow removal experience with a municipal agency is preferred but not required.

Employment Standards

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and supplies used in snow removal.
• Skill in verbal and written communication.
• Ability to perform assigned work independently with direction.
• Ability to work twelve- (12) hour shifts during emergency conditions on short notice.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time outside and in all weather conditions.
• Ability to identify and implement risk management techniques to reduce exposure to injury, damage, and liability.
• Ability to adhere to all applicable work safety rules, procedures and equipment operations as presented.
• Ability to coordinate activities with other individuals within the department.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Hiring Salary Range: $22.47-$26.41

Full Salary Range: $22.47-$30.34

The 2026-2027 winter season runs from October 13, 2026-April 10, 2027.

Tools & Equipment

Requires frequent use of various electric and gas-operated tools and equipment used in snow removal, including, but not limited to, trucks, tractors,sprayers, loaders, backhoes, trenchers, additional snow removal equipment, first aid equipment and other equipment as assigned.

General and Sensory Requirements

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Duties may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and maintaining balance. The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.

Heavy Physical Demands

This position requires sustained and demanding physical activity. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and more than one hundred (100) pounds occasionally with assistance.

Environment

Physical presence onsite is required. Work is primarily performed in outdoor locations. The noise level is variable depending on activities or location. This position frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Employees in this position may be exposed to fumes, odors, dust, or airborne particles, work in proximity to moving mechanical parts or machinery, and handle potentially hazardous materials.
