Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Seasonal Custodian in Bluffton to support the INDOT Bluffton Sub-District Shop. You will perform custodial tasks, basic facilities maintenance, and inventory handling to ensure clean, safe facilities.

Expect an hourly wage of $18.00 with a work period limited to 180 days within an eleven-month window. This role may be supervisory depending on agency needs and requires adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
• Performs routine facilities maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, painting, and checking fluid levels.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Delivers vehicles, parts, and equipment to various district locations.
• Receives, stocks, and organizes inventory.
• Assists mechanics and other staff in routine maintenance and inventory procedures.
• Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
• Performs basic lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and minor landscaping.
• May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and inventory and may answer basic questions.
• May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
• May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
