Job summary

Walden Local Meat Co. is seeking a Seasonal South Driver in Shelton, CT to safely operate a 14-foot delivery van and deliver monthly meat subscriptions across CT, NJ, and NY, including Manhattan.

You’ll assist with loading, maintain the vehicle, and help with warehouse tasks on non-delivery days. Requirements include a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and comfort delivering in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Experience driving delivery or passenger vehicles in urban and rural areas.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to lift and carry 5–35 pounds and navigate stairs.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a 14-foot delivery van in CT, NJ, NY including Manhattan.
• Assist with loading and unloading the delivery van.
• Deliver monthly meat subscription shares to members’ homes with attention to delivery instructions.
• Collect and return delivery bags for warehouse reuse.
• Answer basic customer service inquiries during home deliveries.
• Complete pre-departure and end-of-route paperwork for vehicle maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness of the delivery van daily.
• Coordinate with the Member Experience team for on-time deliveries.
• Assist with warehouse tasks on non-delivery days.

Job Title: Seasonal South Driver - Shelton, CT

Location: Shelton, CT

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:30am departure time

Employment Type: Full Time, Seasonal through December 23, 2026

Hours: 30-45 hours per week (will start around 30 and increase to 40-45 as our seasonal deliveries increase in frequency and volume around Thanksgiving/Christmas)

Pay: $23.00 per hour

What You'll Do

• Safely drive a 14-foot delivery van in urban, suburban and rural areas in all weather across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York including Manhattan
• Assist with loading and unloading your delivery van
• Respectfully deliver monthly meat subscription shares to our members' homes, paying close attention to delivery instructions
• Collect prior month's delivery bags, re-fold and return them to the warehouse for re-use
• Answer basic customer service inquiries from Walden Local members during their home delivery
• Complete pre-departure and end-of-route paperwork regarding your route and the condition of your delivery vehicle to ensure any maintenance needs are documented for the Maintenance team
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of your delivery van by removing personal items, cleaning out any trash and promptly cleaning up any food or beverage spills promptly each day
• Coordinate on the fly delivery adjustments with our Member Experience team to ensure each member's monthly delivery goes smoothly
• Pitch in with miscellaneous warehouse tasks as needed on scheduled non-delivery days

What You'll Bring

• Passion for our mission to support local and sustainable food and agriculture
• Home delivery, commercial driving or Lyft/Uber/Instacart/etc. experience
• Valid Driver's License
• A clean driving record for at least the past 3 years
• Ability to lift and carry 5-35 pounds while walking and climbing up and down stairs
• Comfort with driving and working in varying weather conditions
• A track record of excellent work attendance
• Willingness to get hands dirty and jump in to do whatever needs to get done

• Delivery or commercial driving experience
