Job summary

Allen Marine Inc. in Sitka, AK is seeking a seasonal Laborer to assist and support skilled shop staff. You will help welders, fitters, mechanics and carpenters, marking materials and preparing for fabrication.

The role requires a proactive, safety-minded candidate able to work in a dynamic shipyard environment. The position includes duties such as forklift operation, cleaning, painting, and general yard support, with flexibility for weekends and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• 1 year work experience preferred, or similar.
• Familiarity with basic tools used in welding, carpentry, and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Support welders, fitters, mechanics, carpenters and electricians.
• Weld marking and positioning material for welding
• Cutting, grinding and buffing aluminum extrusions and plate, sorting plate, measuring for fabrication
• Fork lift operation
• Insulation and painting duties
• Sweep shop, clean up work areas, vacuuming and scrap metal sorting
• Garbage pick up, raking, shoveling, general assistance of yard operator
• Pressure wash boats, clean boats, painting, make minor repairs and assist mechanics
• Assist carpenters as needed
• Other duties as assigned
