Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Senior Summer Camp Counselor to join our team for the summer season. You will supervise campers, help plan activities, and create an inclusive, fun environment for children of all abilities.

Requirements include being 18+, HS diploma or enrollment in 2+ years of child development coursework, and prior camp experience. We offer weekly pay, a supportive team, and a commitment to strengthening the community.

Formación

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or equivalent; or enrolled in 2+ years of child development coursework.
• Experience with children and camp staff roles preferred.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor and patience are essential.

• Supervise campers and plan camp activities, actively participate.
• Ensure accessibility and inclusion for all campers regardless of ability.
• Identify and redirect inappropriate behavior to maintain safety.
• Maintain clear communication with parents/guardians about activities.

What is needed for this job:

• At least 18 years old
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements.
• Experience working with children and at least two seasons working as a Y Camp Counselor or as a counselor in a comparable program.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience.

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Supervise campers and plan camp activities. Actively participate in activities to encourage participation.
• Ensure all campers can participate in all activities, no matter varied abilities whether physical, or intellectual.
• Ability to identify, address, and redirect/correct inappropriate behavior.
• Ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid the risk of accidents.
• Assist in maintaining effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.
• Embody the GPY commitment to diversity and inclusion, no matter race, color, creed, or gender identification.
