Job summary

1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC is seeking a Seasonal Security & Safety Officer to protect employees, property, and assets by monitoring CCTV, access control, and dispatch operations, and by conducting physical patrols. The officer will respond to safety and security calls, investigate incidents, and prepare detailed reports for legal and executive review.

Qualifications

• 6 months-1 year recent security experience.
• A professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required to effectively interact with all levels of company personnel and outside contacts.
• The ability to produce accurate, concise and detailed reports that can withstand review by the highest levels of company personnel and various legal authorities is essential.
• The ability to prioritize responsibilities and maintain composure while dealing with frequent distractions is required. Multi-tasking is a must.
• DPSST certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to work a variable schedule with possible overtime.
• A working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office applications is required.
• This position is security and safety sensitive. If offered the position, candidate will need to pass a drug screening, background check and driving record review.
• Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is preferred, but not required.
• Physical requirements include continuous walking (10-15 miles per shift), frequent running, frequent climbing, occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs), occasional bending and frequent driving

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols across the campus, orchards, retail areas (Country Village), and other Harry & David facilities. Operates a patrol vehicle to monitor foot and vehicle traffic, enforce parking policies, and ensure safety and security of all properties.
• Respond to and document safety and security incidents.
• Write reports documenting safety/security incidents, observations, and daily logs.
• Respond to calls for assistance from departments throughout the company.
• Investigate crimes against the company by gathering information from all appropriate resources.
• Maintain situational awareness, focus, and responsive readiness in a dynamic environment.
• Perform safety inspections to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with Emergency Services and Law Enforcement for timely response.
• Provide medical assistance and administer First Aid/CPR as needed.
• Assist paramedics and in-house nurse when required.
