Job summary

The Town of Greenwich is seeking a Custodian to assist custodians in cleaning school buildings under the Board of Education. The role performs assigned tasks timely and operates under supervision.

Duties include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, floor scrubbing, cleaning rooms and windows, and preparing spaces for meetings and events. The job may require long hours and physical activity; fingerprinting/background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of materials, methods and devices used in cleaning operations.
• Ability to perform routine and occasionally strenuous work during long hours.
• Ability to understand and follow oral or basic written instructions.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Assists custodians in cleaning tasks: vacuums, mops, dusts, scrubs, floors; cleans rooms, halls, furniture and windows; washes dust mops.
• Assists with setting up areas for meetings, assemblies, exhibits, athletic programs and other activities.
• May sweep entryways and assist with snow removal from entrances, exits and sidewalks.
• Transports supplies and equipment.
• May work in close quarters such as tunnels or attics; performs related duties as required.
