Job summary

Stratford Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Custodian to perform cleaning and basic maintenance in school buildings and grounds under supervision. The role includes operating cleaning equipment, maintaining facilities, and assisting students, staff and visitors as needed.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, 2–3 years custodial experience preferred, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Work hours are 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a paid lunch during the summer schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years custodial experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success working with minimal direction.
• Good attendance history.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive interaction with teachers, crew, town employees and students.
• Clean/vacuum/wash/strip/polish/wax floors, walls, windows, ceilings, and furniture.
• Minor checks of building systems.
• General cleaning and maintenance of building during daily route assigned to crew.
• Clear and remove trash as required.
• Fill-in for Head Custodian throughout the district as required.
• Perform all duties as assigned by the Building Administrator(s), Facilities Manager and/or designee.
