Seasonal Production Technician - Part Time

Position Summary

Revant Optics’ Production team requires an additional team member to assist with our busiest season, summer! The Production team is dedicated to helping our customers receive the quality products they order. The Seasonal Production Technician is responsible for assisting in various production and fulfillment related tasks including picking orders, preparing lens blanks for production, quality inspections, packaging, shipping, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness. The Seasonal Production Specialist will work closely with the Production Manager to ensure all orders are produced accurately and shipped on time.

Revant offers a competitive compensation package including:

  • Hourly pay: $17/hour
  • $750 retention bonus

We have two shifts for seasonal employees:

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM

This position is expected to start as early as April 28th and will end in late September, subject to end earlier if seasonal demand ends earlier.

Essential Functions
  • Support the Production Team in ensuring all orders are produced accurately and shipped on time each day
  • Handle any aspect of order flow as needed including printing orders, picking lens blanks, loading trays, unloading trays, QC checks of lenses, packaging, and shipping final orders
  • Receive inventory shipments and accurately put away inventory into the correct bins
  • Operate tracing and lens edging equipment with a high level of accuracy and minimal waste
  • Manage a clean and well-maintained production space
  • Complete the daily checklist of activities (e.g. cleaning and calibrating machines, preparing packaging for the next day, queueing orders for overnight processing)
  • Work closely with the Quality Department on maintaining quality control standards throughout production
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to maintain inventory and order flow
  • Keep the production area stocked with all necessary items, perform supply counts and solve any problems that arise
  • Continually drive efficiencies and work closely with the Director of Operations to develop production processes and systems that reduce costs and improve the customer experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing setting, preferably
  • High school diploma (or GED) preferred
  • Experience managing a wide range of production/warehousing activities (pick/pack/ship, QC control, order processing)
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Self-motivation and commitment to continuously improve

Work Environment (In Office)

This position operates in a production and lab setting using optical testing equipment and works around our manufacturing equipment. The environment is often loud due to the air compressors required for manufacturing. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners as we are a technologically driven company. We operate under Good Manufacturing Practices which may at times require wearing safety glasses and closed toe shoes.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally the employee will need to lift boxes up to 25lbs.
