Job summary

Elephants Delicatessen, a Portland-based gourmet producer, is seeking dynamic Seasonal Cooks to join our Production Kitchen through December. You’ll prepare high-quality items per standardized recipes, work across Prep and Catering departments, and help meet peak-season demand in a fast-paced setting.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years of kitchen or high-volume food service experience, strong teamwork and communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial kitchen or high-volume food service experience.
• Experience in large-batch cooking.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to measure, weigh, and scale recipes.

Responsibilities

• Produce all food precisely according to recipes.
• Scale recipes to meet daily production needs.
• Maintain consistent quality in taste, presentation, portioning, and labeling.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, storage, and temperature control standards.
• Safely operate kitchen equipment and report malfunctions.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Support inventory rotation, stocking, and waste reduction efforts.
• Work across multiple production departments as assigned.
• Complete production records, including time and temperature logs.
• Follow allergen-control and food safety procedures.
• Assist with sanitation and end-of-shift cleaning responsibilities.
• Communicate production priorities with supervisors and team members.
