Job summary

The Andover Recreation Division's Kid Care Preschool Program is hiring a seasonal, part-time staff member to support early education for infants to age five. The role runs September 1 through June 15, about 19 hours weekly, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with no benefits.

Qualifications

• Nine months of experience in the early childhood field, including three months supervised.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree with at least three months of childcare experience.
• High school diploma with at least six months of early childhood experience, including three months supervised.
• CPR and First Aid preferred or willing to obtain certification.
• Must complete all pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage infants, toddlers and preschoolers in a safe, supportive setting.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
• Promote positive behavior and help children form respectful peer relationships.
• Monitor safety and well-being throughout the program.
• Prepare, organize, and clean program spaces and materials.
• Communicate professionally with children, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Follow program policies and emergency protocols.
• Participate in required training and staff meetings.

The Andover Recreation Division's Kid Care Preschool Program provides a safe, fun, and engaging space for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children from birth through age five. Programming operates Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and includes drop-in infant and toddler playgroups, a weekly drop-off preschool program, and various enrichment classes led by Andover Kid Care staff and outside vendors.

This is a seasonal, temporary, part-time position running from September 1 through June 15. This position is not benefits eligible.

Work Schedule

The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for approximately 19 hours per week. The exact schedule may vary based on program needs.

Qualifications

• Must meet at least one of the following education and experience requirements:
  • Have at least nine months of experience working in the early childhood field, including three months of supervised experience in a childcare program.
  • Hold a bachelor's or associate degree and have at least three months of experience working with children.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least six months of experience working in the early childhood field, including three months of supervised experience in a childcare program.
• Additional experience working with children through employment, volunteering, coaching, tutoring, babysitting, camps, or similar activities is preferred.
• Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must be able to communicate positively and appropriately with children, families, and coworkers.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, or the candidate must be willing and able to obtain certification if required.
• Must successfully complete all applicable pre-employment requirements.

Essential Functions

• Remain active and move throughout the program area for extended periods.
• Participate in and supervise indoor and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.
• Bend, reach, and move between activity areas while supervising children.
• Occasionally lift and carry program supplies, materials, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Observe children and respond promptly to safety concerns and emergency situations.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with children, families, and staff.
