Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking part-time pool lifeguards to monitor and protect swimmers at city facilities. Candidates must hold a valid ARC Lifeguard Training and a Florida driver’s license, and be able to pass the lifeguard test semi-annually.

Responsibilities include enforcing rules, providing first aid, performing water rescues, CPR, and assisting with maintenance and swim lesson instruction. Availability for nights, holidays, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• ARC Lifeguard Training or equivalent.
• Successfully pass the Pool Lifeguard Test semi-annually.
• Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License, with a good driving record.
• Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends.
• Experience with pool lifeguarding and pool maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor pool patrons; enforce pool rules.
• Provide first aid care for minor injuries.
• Regulate activities which may threaten pool patrons or property.
• Make water rescues in various situations.
• Provide resuscitative care (CPR) and Basic Life Support until EMS personnel arrive.
• Administer oxygen, perform CPR, and use an AED as required.
• Assist with routine facility maintenance.
• Assist with swim lesson instructions.
• Complete physical and skills training as assigned daily.
• Ability to work some nights, holidays and weekends.
