Job summary

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is seeking a Visitor Center Technician for a temporary position in Colorado. The role involves providing information to visitors, handling transactions, and assisting with park-related services in a busy visitor center setting.

The successful candidate will have data entry and MS Office proficiency, the ability to work weekends/holidays, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Successful background screening may be required for placement in this position.
• Must have a current and valid drivers' license and provide a current Motor Vehicle Report.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
• Experience with data entry and word processing utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc), and Google platforms since this position enters data into spreadsheets.
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch in the station.
• Some uniform items will be provided, however employees will be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.).
• Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, water and other novelties
• Sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV and snowmobile registrations and permits, and fishing and hunting licenses.
• Operate a cash register.
• Answer telephones and transfer/take messages.
• Photo-copy and file documents.
• Collect revenue, complete shift report, and balance shift box at end of each shift.
• May prepare event facility reservations forms and documents.
• May document and report visitor complaints.
• Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up.
• May assist with special events or programs within the park.
• Other duties as assigned.
