Job summary

Anheuser-Busch in Virginia is hiring a Seasonal Packaging Line Operator at Devils Backbone Outpost. This entry-level role focuses on operating can-filling and keg-filling machinery, ensuring smooth packaging with close supervision. The position is seasonal and does not include company benefits.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, be 21 or older, and comfortable lifting up to 32 lbs and moving 200 lb kegs. Prior production or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Role Summary: The Seasonal Packaging Line Operator (PLO) completes various tasks vital to the distribution packaging function. This position is entry-level. This position can be a physically fast paced position, requiring the individual to be technologically astute, easily adaptable, and flexible. The PLO is responsible for operating can-filling machinery, keg- filling machinery, packaging machinery, and other general packaging tasks and operations. The PLO works as a valuable team member, and the position’s focus is on maintaining consistency and timeliness within the distribution packaging function—all while maintaining the high quality that Devils Backbone is known for. The PLO will typically work under close supervision.

This is a temporary seasonal position and is not eligible for company benefits.

• Works closely with the Packaging Supervisor, Warehouse Manager, and other team members to ensure smooth operation of packaging machinery and equipment.
• Operate high speed packaging equipment – kegging and canning.
• Performs daily start-up and clean-up procedures on all assigned packaging stations.
• Uphold food safe environment through quality and sanitation.
• Works with maintenance employees/personnel to assist with equipment problems and troubleshooting.
• Performs daily basic maintenance for machinery.
• Assists in the production records management.
• Works to achieve packaging/distribution short and long-term goals and metrics.
• Adheres to all safety precautions rules and guidelines.
• Routinely uses a computer for accessing email and other company communication platforms, SDS safety sheets, SOPs, and other job or company related information.
• May stack and palletize finished product and prepares for cold-room storage.
• May have to use computer for accessing SDS safety sheets/protocols and interpret the protocols into actions.
• Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 32lbs routinely throughout a shift.
• Must be able to maneuver 200lbs kegs from filler to pallet.
• Frequent use of hand/eye coordination and manipulation of cardboard boxes, packing tape, machinery, etc.
• Ability to multi-task effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Previous manufacturing experience in food and/or beverage industry preferred
• Knowledge and a passion for craft beer
• Ability to work autonomously, and within a teamwork environment.
• General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work.
• Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment related to work.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to distinguish color for safety signs.
