Job summary

United Planning Organization (UPO) in Washington, DC is seeking a Driver/Outreach Worker for the seasonal program. You will transport clients to shelters and designated locations, operate UPO Shelter Hotline vehicles, and ensure safety and documentation during shifts.

The position is full-time, temporary, with benefits, offering an hourly rate of $18.40, open November 1, 2026 through April 15, 2027. Candidates must have a valid CDL class D and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two years of experience operating a 15-passenger vehicle.
• Must have a current Class D driver’s license and a clean driving record (≤2 points in 5 years).
• Ability to work nights, holidays, weekends and in all weather; strong navigation of DC.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word) and time-keeping software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport clients to shelters and designated locations using UPO Shelter Hotline vehicles.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report repairs as required.
• Maintain daily trip logs with passenger counts, origins, destinations and mileage.
• Coordinate with hotline dispatchers and local agencies as needed.
• Deliver packages, blankets, food and outreach materials to clients.
