Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is seeking a Radiology Technologist for a temporary seasonal assignment. The role involves performing radiographs, operating x-ray equipment, and assisting in fluoroscopic studies under radiologist supervision.

Qualified candidates must be ARRT registered with CPR current and have completed an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Excellent communication with patients and staff is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographs of designated body areas as directed by physician.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and ensure proper exposure and safety.
  • Prepare and organize medical supplies for procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients and position them correctly.
  • Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic exams and studies.
  • Document exams and maintain a clean, orderly workspace.
  • Consult with lead tech and radiologist on quality standards.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for to the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Job Duties
  • Perform the described duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in the following: Orthopedic Radiology, Pediatric Radiology, Operating Room Radiology,
  • Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by physician; adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment; explain x ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff.
  • Monitor accessory equipment and assist attending physician with fluoroscopic examinations and special radiographic studies.
  • Record amount and type of film exposed; label film with identifying information; sort as required.
  • Consult with lead x-ray tech and radiologist to ensure compliance with established standards of quality.
  • Process film in accordance with standardized procedures and maintain assigned work area in clean and orderly condition.
Required Skills:
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Technology
  • AART Registered and CPR Current
  • Knowledgeable of local, state, federal and Joint Commission Regulations
  • Must possess independent decision making skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills with the staff, physicians, patients and families
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional way
