Job summary

City of Fishers is seeking experienced backhoe/loader operators to join our seasonal snow removal team. This temporary, on-call role is called during winter weather events to keep city properties clear of snow and safe for the public.

Shifts are 12 hours, typically 9pm-9am or 9am-9pm, with fixed start times. Paid training sessions will be held on November 20th and December 18th, with one session required. Applicants must have a valid Indiana driver's license and convey readiness for on-call duty.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience operating backhoes and articulating loaders.
• At least one season of snow plow experience preferred.
• Valid Indiana Driver's License.
• Ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle.
• 3 years of driving experience required (not including learner's permit).
• Ability to work at night.
• Reliable transportation to and from work site.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Move and remove snow from parking lots under city snow removal jurisdiction.
• Operate backhoes and articulating loaders safely.
• Work 12-hour shifts, typically nights 9pm-9am or days 9am-9pm.
• Attend paid training sessions when scheduled in advance.

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Description

The City of Fishers is seeking experienced Backhoe / Loader Operators to join our seasonal snow removal team. This temporary role is a great way to make extra money during the long, cold winter! Help keep school and municipal properties clear of snow and safe for the public by joining the best snow removal team in the state.
This is a seasonal, on-call position that will only be called to duty during city winter weather events. Shifts are 12 hours and will typically be nights from 9pm-9am, or day shifts 9am - 9pm. Start times of shifts are not flexible but end times of shifts can be flex. If you cannot work a full 12 hour shift, please apply and let us know your availability when we contact you. Paid training sessions will be held on November 20th and December 18th. Only one session is required.

If substantial snowfall or ice is expected, this additional staff will be placed on-call with as much advance notice as possible. Once committed to on-call status, operators will be expected to be rested and ready to work their full shift if called upon. All equipment will be provided by the City.

Examples of Duties

Primary responsibility will be moving and removing snow from parking lots that fall under the City's snow removal jurisdiction.

Supplemental Information

Paid training will be provided which includes classroom presentation, video, and ride along as needed.
