Job summary

Steamboat Springs School District is seeking an Athletic-Special Education Paraprofessional for Nordic skiing to support a student athlete from 11/30/2026 to 02/07/2027. The role includes coordinating with coaches, preparing for practices, and ensuring safety and continuity of instruction, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality.

The position is temporary, hourly, and not benefits-eligible, paying $26.11 per hour, reflecting the district's commitment to student achievement and athlete welfare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain discipline with large groups of students.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Help the student athlete prepare for practice with clothing and meeting location.
• Communicate with coaches of any special considerations for the day.
• Communicate with coaches about absences, schedule changes, workout plans, etc. (with parents).
• Help connect the student with other teammates so they feel connected.
• Accompany the student athlete to the team meeting and to the training squad for the day.
• Assist transitions between disciplines and supervise pickup point with a parent or guardian.
• If traveling with the student to a competition, accompany for the entire event and at start/finish lines.
