Job summary

The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York seeks an ambitious Sales Associate for the Whitney Retail Team in a Part-Time Temporary role ending January 31, 2027. You will combine product knowledge with superior service to meet sales goals and foster a loyal onsite and online audience for the Shop.

As part of a fast-paced, high-traffic environment you will maintain merchandise presentation, process transactions across multiple channels, and collaborate with Membership, Visitor Services, and

Qualifications

• Strong public-facing customer service skills.
• Accurate cash handling skills.
• Previous POS and inventory experience.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate merchandise weights.
• Interest in arts & culture.
• Open availability, especially on weekends.
• Appreciation of diverse audiences and work environments.
• Additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide impeccable customer service across all sales channels.
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Handle cash/credit transactions and open/close cash drawers.
• Maintain high standards of merchandise presentation.
• Assist in event setup and inventory counts as scheduled.
• Restock supplies and process mail orders (online and in-store).
• Assist in receiving and packaging as needed.
• Deliver hospitality and selling experiences to customers.
