Job summary

Powder Mountain and Powder Haven are seeking a Seasonal Retail Buyer to support planning, purchasing, and inventory management of retail merchandise. You will report to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager and execute seasonal buying plans, manage vendor relationships, and coordinate orders and inventory.

This part-time, seasonal role concentrates workload around annual buying cycles, with much work performed remotely and occasional on-site visits during key periods or vendor meetings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail buying, purchasing, merchandising, or inventory management preferred.
• Knowledge of outdoor, ski, snowboard, bike, and lifestyle retail products preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, Drive, and Gmail.
• Experience with retail inventory management and point-of-sale systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute seasonal buying plans developed in collaboration with the Senior Retail & Rental Manager.
• Place purchase orders as directed by the Senior Retail & Rental Manager and manage order confirmations, revisions, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendor representatives and serve as a primary point of contact for product availability, order status, and shipment timelines.
• Present new products, brands, and merchandising opportunities to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager for review and approval.
• Participate in vendor meetings, line reviews, and seasonal buying appointments alongside or on behalf of the Senior Retail & Rental Manager as appropriate.
• Be available to attend industry trade shows, buying events, and vendor meetings when applicable to support seasonal purchasing decisions.
• Research new brands, products, and industry trends that support the retail strategies of Powder Mountain and Powder Haven.
• Monitor inventory levels and provide recommendations to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager for replenishment, markdowns, and closeout opportunities.
• Assist with preseason inventory planning and seasonal forecasting under the direction of the Senior Retail & Rental Manager.
• Coordinate inventory activities to support operational needs and financial goals established by department leadership.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor documentation.
• Track open purchase orders and proactively resolve shipping or fulfillment issues.
• Assist with product setup, pricing, and inventory organization within retail systems.
• Support seasonal inventory counts and inventory reconciliation efforts.
• Prepare reports, sales analysis, and buying updates as requested.
