Seasonal Maintenance Worker - Street Maintenance

The City of Roanoke is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine landscape maintenance tasks within the City of Roanoke's right of ways. The successful applicant will operate a variety of mowing equipment including edgers, string trimmers, blowers and other small power equipment but also must be able to operate a farm tractor with bush-hog. Work is accomplished under the direction of Maintenance Technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training in landscape maintenance and performance of heavy manual work is desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. A Virginia Driver's License is required.

Work 40 hours per week from April - November.

This is a non-exempt position.

Examples of Duties:

1. Performs routine landscape maintenance tasks within the City of Roanoke's right of ways.
2. Operates a variety of mowing equipment including edgers, string trimmers, blowers and other small power equipment.
