Are you looking for a hands-on, outdoor job where you can make a real difference in your community? The City of SeaTac is now hiring Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers to join our dynamic Public Works team!

Under the guidance of our experienced Maintenance Operations Supervisor or Lead, you’ll gain valuable field experience while helping maintain and repair city streets, rights-of-way, and storm drainage systems. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in a job well done, and wants to be cross-trained in various public works functions.

Representative Duties

Public Works Maintenance Operations are categorized into two sections: Street/Vegetation, and Storm. However, seasonal workers will primarily be assigned to Street/Vegetation with occasional assistance to storm staff.

  • Perform entry-level and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-way, and storm drainage systems, following safety regulations and procedures. Complete work according to work orders and daily logs.
  • Support the relationship between the City of SeaTac and residents by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, vendors, and City staff. Promote city goals and priorities, comply with policies, and participate in meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in tasks such as mowing, edging, line trimming, weeding, brush cutting, pruning, litter control, pesticide/fertilizer application, and traffic control.
  • Maintain regular attendance during the standard workweek.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Previous experience in public works or parks maintenance is preferred but not required.

Licenses And Other Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License; a three-year driving abstract must be submitted prior to hire.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam and provide own steel-toed safety boots.
  • A combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and skills to perform the job is desired.
