Job Description: Seasonal Maintenance Worker - DPW at City of Southfield

The City of Southfield is hiring for the position of Seasonal Maintenance Worker - DPW. This role involves various outdoor maintenance tasks across different divisions, including Highway, Water, Forestry, Motor Pool, and Traffic/Sign Shop.

Divisions and Responsibilities:

1. Highway Division: Outside maintenance of streets, cold patching, mowing, weed whipping, site cleanup, and restoration. Operate city vehicles and power tools. Work schedule: 40 hours/week starting in April.
2. Water Division: Install and repair meters, site cleanup, sewer jetting. Operate city vehicles and tools. Steel-toed shoes required. Schedule: 40 hours/week from April.
3. Forestry Division: Forestry maintenance, landscaping, brush chipping. Operate vehicles and tools. Schedule: 40 hours/week beginning in April.
4. Motor Pool: Inventory management, parts pickup, vehicle maintenance. Operate vehicles and tools. Schedule: 40 hours/week starting in April.
5. Traffic/Sign Shop: Assist with traffic counts, sign repairs, and manufacturing. Operate vehicles and tools. Schedule: 40 hours/week beginning in April.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work effectively with others.
• Availability for overtime as needed.
• Steel-toed shoes required.
• Previous experience is helpful but not mandatory.
