Job description

Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.

Duties:

  1. Assists higher graded maintenance workers in the performance of their work.
  2. Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on tasks such as replacing broken planks on picnic tables and broken windows using precut stock.
  3. Performs painting using a brush roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical, such as staining trash barrels.
  4. Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures that do not require custom fitting or solder joints; replaces faucet washers; unplugs drains using a plunger; replaces liquid petroleum gas bottles.
  5. Receives, unloads, and processes incoming shipments according to established procedures.
  6. Reports discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items.
  7. Collects trash.
  8. Operates pickup truck and park's UTV to pick up supplies, transport materials to and from work sites while assisting with project work and snow plowing.
  9. Cleans and services chemical toilets and restrooms in park buildings.
  10. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers problems to higher graded workers.
  11. Operates a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging.

Cut-off Dates: This is an open continuous announcement, in which applications are collected over several months, and have multiple cut-off dates. Applications received by the initial cutoff date will be considered first. INITIAL CUT OFF IS Friday December 13, 2024. Applications will be considered throughout the open period of the announcement; however, additional referral certificates will only be issued when a hiring official exhausts current certificates and/or additional vacancies need to be filled.

  • Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
  • Use of Measuring Instruments

SCREEN OUT - QUALIFICATIONS: Perform simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades. I have used simple measures and hand tools to replace broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replaces hinges, latches, and catches. I have used a brush and roller on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels. I have performed routine maintenance on campground sites and trails using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances. I have operated a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites. I have cleaned and serviced chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities. My work has been under close supervision and I referred unusual problems to the supervisor or a higher graded employee.
