POSITION PURPOSE:
Individuals assigned to this classification are expected to have the physical, mechanical and manipulative skills and abilities necessary to perform the general manual labor required in the area to which assigned. Individuals usually work with more experienced employees but will be expected to work independently to perform relatively routine and well-known tasks; or more difficult work following specific instruction and directions. The seasonal worker typically works five months or less between April and October.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described below and in the attached form are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time. The employee is constantly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is primarily performed outdoors, subject to travelling by City vehicle from site to site several times each day. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; regularly works in outside weather conditions and exposed to changing weather conditions such as rain and sun; and regularly works in heavy vehicle traffic areas on urban streets; or public areas such as parks, recreation areas, docks, and boating areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration and frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud while operating machinery or working near equipment.
