Job summary

The City of Kennewick is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers to support operations in the Parks, Streets, and Water Distribution/Utilities divisions. These positions help maintain City facilities, infrastructure, and public spaces throughout the season.

Work schedules vary by division; Parks includes mornings and evenings, while Streets/Water are Monday–Friday with morning or day shifts. Starting wage is $18.25 per hour, with potential advancement for returning seasonal employees.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older on the date of hire.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform outdoor maintenance work in all types of weather conditions; basic mechanical ability, including ability to use small hand tools; basic safety skills and awareness; prior experience in maintenance or similar work preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and varied shifts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Parks tasks: weeding, raking, watering, hand mowing, edging, shoveling, litter pickup, softball infields, restrooms and facilities upkeep.
  • Plant/Water division: cleaning water/wastewater plants, janitorial work, organizing parts, painting, cleaning equipment, assisting operators.
