Position Summary
The Seasonal Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing expertise, leadership, and resources needed to support maintenance of the branch and campus, its operational programs, and planned maintenance activities. The position supports the maintenance and housekeeping teams, oversees facility service vendors, and coordinates related maintenance tasks as required.
Responsibilities
- Actively promote the Mission of the YMCA of Pawtucket by fostering positive relationships with staff and members, supporting the strategic objectives of the Association.
- Ensure the facility is cleaned properly, projects are completed timely, and maintenance schedules are effectively executed.
- Support all maintenance and repairs on the branch/campus, survey the campus regularly to address safety and aesthetic repairs, and report complex issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Manage vendor repairs, ensuring timely and quality work. Perform repairs where possible or coordinate with vendors to maintain or repair building systems and equipment. Assist maintenance and housekeeping staff as needed.
- Coordinate facility maintenance, including planning and implementing preventative maintenance.
- Be available for off-hour shifts to complete night work, oversee vendors, and support special events.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked maintenance area.
- Identify safety hazards and take steps to mitigate risks.
- Keep up-to-date records of repairs, initiatives, warranties, and operational contacts.
- Coordinate and represent the YMCA in volunteer facility improvement projects.
- Engage members and staff to develop meaningful, positive relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Maintenance Supervisor, or Regional Facility Director.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field required; minimum 2 years industry experience in carpentry or facility management preferred, which may substitute for the degree.
- Knowledge and experience in maintenance and housekeeping practices.
- Strong communication skills, self-discipline, organization, and ability to respond in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership qualities: ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other computer programs.
- High initiative, professionalism, positive attitude, and team support orientation.
