Overview

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Leadership Team, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect lives, enforce regulations, and control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers. Lifeguards will provide first aid when necessary and assist with the implementation of aquatics programs. This position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules to create a safe environment for members, visitors, and staff.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately.
• Caution swimmers about unsafe areas and maintain order in swimming zones.
• Constantly observe assigned areas to identify dangers and perform rescues if needed.
• Administer first aid, CPR, AED, and rescue breathing as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of pool and related areas, and assist with setup and breakdown of equipment.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
• Wear prescribed uniform and maintain a professional appearance.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures, embodying The Salvation Army’s mission in your actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years old.
• Possess American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
