Job summary

Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, MD is seeking a dynamic Head Swim Coach to lead our competitive program during the extended seasonal period. This role focuses on coaching excellence, athlete development, and creating a memorable summer experience for swimmers and their families.

You’ll supervise assistants, plan practices and meets, and partner with the Aquatics Director on events and safety. Strong leadership, swim technique knowledge, and certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two seasons of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of swim techniques and competitive strategy
• CPR/AED and First Aid certified
• Safety Training for Coaches certified (or equivalent)
• Lifeguard certification preferred
• Positive, organized and relationship-driven leader

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Assistant Swim Coaches
• Plan and run engaging practices and competitive swim meets
• Develop swimmers’ technique, confidence, and competitive edge
• Run organized, high-energy swim meets from start to finish (lineups, timing systems, results, volunteers)
• Build strong relationships with swimmers, families, and the team
• Partner with the Aquatics Director on program planning, events, and communications
• Ensure swimmer safety and positive team culture
• Manage scheduling, records, team systems (Team Manager, Meet Manager, Team Unify), and equipment
• Champion safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship
