We are looking for a motivated Sales Associate with strong heavy equipment operation experience to join our Hardscapes team. This hands-on role combines customer service, product knowledge, equipment operation, and delivery logistics. You’ll assist customers with material selection and education, safely operate machinery, support deliveries, and help maintain the grounds and event spaces of our facility.

• This is a seasonal role working onsite at Colonial Gardens in Blue Springs.
• Hourly Rate: $18.00-$20.00

About Us: Colonial Gardens, located in Blue Springs, MO, was added to our brand family in 2016. Founded in 1969, renovations began in 2017 to create an agritourism destination. It is the garden center, reimagined! We offer a greenhouse, nursery, café and coffee shop, event space, and farmer’s market. It’s where plants, food and farms connect. Educational classes promoting local agriculture and sustainability as well as private events are also offered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Experience & Sales
  • Provide outstanding customer service in assisting with hardscapes product selection, layout planning, and purchase decisions.
  • Educate customers on materials, equipment use, and best practices for successful projects.
  • Represent the company’s mission and core values in every customer interaction.
• Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and loaders for material handling, yard organization, and customer assistance.
• Maintain safety protocols during all equipment usage and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Delivery Operations
  • Perform local deliveries of bulk materials (e.g., gravel, mulch, stone) and general goods using company vehicles.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain delivery documentation and communicate effectively with customers during drop-offs.
• Grounds, Maintenance & Events Support
  • Assist with groundskeeping, general site repairs, and upkeep of public and operational areas.
  • Support set-up and take-down for events and promotional activities, ensuring all areas are clean, functional, and safe.
  • Contribute to the general maintenance and visual appeal of the hardscapes area.
• Merchandising & Inventory Management
  • Keep displays organized and stocked to create a welcoming retail experience.
  • Participate in pricing updates, inventory counts, and product merchandising.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to source and replenish materials efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required: 2+ years of sales experience in landscaping, construction, or a related field.
• Required: Proven experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, skid steer)
• Required: Driver’s license required to operate delivery vehicles
• Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and POS/inventory systems
• Required: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly and work in physically demanding environments
• Required: Flexible schedule with availability on weekends and holidays
• Preferred: Valid Class E (or equivalent), Forklift Certification, and Loader Operator Certification
