Seasonal - Laborer Utilities (Water/Wastewater)
Join the City of Carmel, Indiana, as a Seasonal Laborer Utilities (Water/Wastewater) and be part of our summer staff. This part-time, seasonal role offers flexible hours and involves assisting with maintenance and facility upkeep.
Essential Job Functions
The following duties are typical for this position. Other duties may be assigned:
- Perform manual tasks such as painting, cleaning, digging, sweeping, landscaping, and drilling.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools by cleaning and inspecting after use.
- Report defects or repairs needed to supervisors.
- Assist with installation and operation of temporary traffic control measures.
- Follow safety standards including confined space, trenching, shoring, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Transport, load, and unload equipment and materials.
- Keep records of work activities and inventory.
- Assist staff with daily tasks and errands.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to review and record data accurately.
- Follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Operate within established guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Perform basic math operations.
- Operate machinery, equipment, and tools such as dump trucks, forklifts, tractors, mowers, power tools, and gas monitoring devices.
- Operate a motor vehicle for work purposes.
- Exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, and working in adverse environmental conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license preferred.
Position may require reporting to multiple locations within the City of Carmel.
