Job summary

The Salvation Army in Indianapolis seeks a Kettle Driver to transport bell ringers and equipment during the Red Kettle Campaign season. You will drive an insured Salvation Army vehicle, lock kettles, and ensure safe transport, supporting donors and volunteers.

The role includes loading kettles, maintaining vehicles, documenting times, coordinating data with the Kettle Coordinator, and supervising bell ringers and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Background checks: a background check is required and reviewed.
  • Experience: driving 12-passenger vans preferred; minimum 2 years driving experience.
  • Certification: valid driver’s license and Salvation Army driver qualification standard.

Responsibilities

  • Drive an insured Salvation Army vehicle to transport bell ringers and equipment during Red Kettle Campaign.
  • Drop off and pick up bell ringers in a predetermined sequence and secure kettles.
  • Assist with placing kettles at corps locations and document time for bellringers.
  • Coordinate with Kettle Coordinator to ensure data accuracy for workers and sites.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance or fuel needs immediately.
  • Supervise paid bell ringers and volunteers, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Ensure security of daily funds and assist in inventory for next season.
