The San Diego State University Research Foundation, Soil Ecology and Restoration Group (SERG), seeks a Seasonal Invasive Technician for field mapping, control, and botany-related projects on San Clemente Island, a Navy site off Southern California. The role involves strenuous outdoor work, remote living, and 10-on/4-off schedules with housing provided.

Starting January 5, 2027, the position is full-time hourly with compensation at $24.65 per hour plus full benefits.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in field botany, ecology, or related discipline.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and tough terrain.
• Must pass background check for Navy base access.

Aufgaben

• Invasive plant control and mapping in field conditions.
• Monitor invasive plant populations and native vegetation on site.
• Operate GPS in the field and collect data for GIS databases.
• Assist with data entry and maintain databases of observations.
• Perform manual, mechanical, and chemical control methods as appropriate.
• Support other restoration fieldwork and propagate native plants.
