Job summary

Who We Are Looking For:

Classification: SEASONAL

Under the supervision of the Manager for Seasonal Experience, this position installs and maintains lighting and audio effects and scenic elements for the Zoo’s Seasonal Programming and permanent shows. Assists in the safe operation and maintenance of sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of seasonal experiences; performs related duties as required. Working outside in all weather conditions, this position will be a part of delivering the amazing experiences the Philadelphia Zoo is known for.

What You Will Do:

• Install lighting and audio effects
• Install scenic elements
• May be asked to install/executive based on artistic rendering
• Will work in year-round weather conditions
• Monitor the condition of equipment, including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; notify supervisor of the need to repair and replace equipment
• Utilize proper safety practices and procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times

What This Role Requires:

• Ability to work at heights up to 60’
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools
• Comfortable working around animals
• Must be able to train on a safely use heavy equipment
• Experience with lighting and sound equipment a plus
• Ability to execute from an artistic rendering a plus
• Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Must possess a valid state drivers’ license

Physical and Medical Requirements:

• Successful completion of a post-offer criminal background check prior to start working including, but not limited to FBI fingerprinting and Child Abuse History Clearance
