Job summary

State of Oregon seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist (Seasonal) to join the Elgin crew. You will operate equipment to repair road surfaces, support weather and emergency operations, and work across a range of maintenance tasks on highways and structures.

The role requires experience in landscape or maintenance work and a valid CDL-A is preferred. Applicants may need to lift up to 60 pounds and be ready for after-hours assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• OR One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• A current, valid commercial driver’s license A (CDL-A) is preferred; CDL eligibility may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, bridges, and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and snow removal operations.
• Perform minor surface repairs, pothole patching, and small inlay work.
• Clear debris, mow vegetation, and maintain drainage systems and fences.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist with traffic control during incidents.
