Sheridan School District No. 2 in Denver is seeking an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for the Fort Logan Northgate location. This seasonal role supports head coaches in planning practices, recruiting, and developing student athletes academically and athletically.

Responsibilities include conducting effective practices, maintaining equipment, communicating with parents, and ensuring eligibility. CHSAA certification is required for high school coaching staff, with stipends per district schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in coaching and training techniques for basketball.
• Ability to work as part of the coaching staff.
• Develop integrity, hard work, and responsibility in student athletes.
• Coaching positions are filled between August and April and renewed annually.
• Maintenance of equipment and uniforms is expected.

Responsabilités

• Plan and complete recruiting activities to maximize student involvement.
• Attend all Athletic Director meetings.
• Conduct parent meetings with clear, documented expectations for players and parents.
• Increase the number of participants through effective recruiting.
• Develop life skills in student athletes.
• Create practice plans designed for incremental skill development.
• Monitor academic progress and student eligibility.
• Teach and encourage sportsmanship and integrity.
• Submit rosters in a timely manner.
• Maintain professional behavior during practices and games.
• Establish roles of all assistant coaches.
• Conduct effective practices to develop strength, endurance, and athletic skills.
• Build relationships with peer coaches and teachers.
• Build relationships with other sports teams in the district.
• Pursue ongoing professional development.
• Acquire, distribute, maintain, and repair equipment and uniforms.
• Raise funds for program success.
• Motivate and utilize assistant coaches effectively.
• Demonstrate concern for visiting teams and officials.
• Use First Aid and CPR to prevent and treat injuries.
• Complete required reports and requisitions.
• Ensure student fees are collected before first competition.
• Get team pictures taken.
