Job summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior seeks a Seasonal Engineering Equipment Operator for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park area in Ohio. Typical seasonal period runs March through September, with entry-on-duty anticipated March–July 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Selective Service registration for males born after 12-31-1959.
• Pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Responsibilities

• Operate graders, bulldozers, backhoes and other heavy equipment for road maintenance and project work in various conditions.
• Perform road grading, surfacing, subgrade excavation, culvert installation, septic system work, and earthwork at archeological sites.
• Maintain, modify and repair heavy equipment; assist railroad workers and operate equipment along the railway.
• May conduct hiking trail and grounds maintenance; some work on the Cuyahoga Valley National Railroad including mowing and tree trimming.
